Dog (2022)
Dog (2022) is an American comedy drama road film directed by Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, marking their debut as film directors. It is based on a story by Carolin and Brett Rodriguez. Jackson Briggs, a former U.S. Army Ranger suffering from PTSD, works at a deli while trying to secure a position in Pakistan. However, due to his condition, he is considered unfit for service and his attempts to call in favors are unsuccessful. Things take a turn when he receives news of the death of his former squadmate, Riley Rodriguez. While having drinks with fellow Rangers, Briggs’s request for a recommendation is denied. He is then called into Fort Lewis and given the task of escorting Lulu, Riley’s Belgian Malinois military working dog, to his funeral in Nogales, Arizona. Afterward, Briggs must bring Lulu to a base where she will be euthanized due to her history of aggressive behavior with other handlers and no one else being willing to take her in. In exchange for this task, Briggs’s former captain promises to recommend him for an overseas tour. However, when Briggs tries to approach Lulu, she immediately pounces on him as he unknowingly touches her sensitive ears.
On the way to Arizona, Briggs stops at a shooting range and frees Lulu from her muzzle. She escapes from her cage and damages the interior of Briggs’ car. To calm her down, he purchases a sausage filled with sedatives to help her sleep. As they are about to hit the road again, Briggs checks on Lulu and is noticed by his friends Bella and Zoe, who have their own dogs with them. They express admiration for Lulu and invite Briggs over to their place where they begin a threesome. Meanwhile, Lulu remains in the car and barks loudly, catching the attention of a concerned neighbor who suspects that she may be locked up against her will.
