El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019), an American neo-Western crime thriller film, is part of the Breaking Bad franchise. Acting as a sequel and epilogue to the television series, it continues the story of Jesse Pinkman, who joins forces with former teacher Walter White to build a crystal meth empire in Albuquerque. In a flashback to their time together in Walter’s meth business, Jesse asks Mike Ehrmantraut where he would start over if given the chance. Mike mentions Alaska as an option, which piques Jesse’s interest. Despite expressing his desire to make things right for his past actions, Mike cautions that starting over would make that impossible. In the present day, after fleeing from the Brotherhood compound in Todd Alquist’s El Camino car, Jesse seeks refuge at Skinny Pete and Badger’s home. They assist him by hiding the car and providing him with a place to sleep. The next morning, Jesse contacts Old Joe to get rid of the El Camino vehicle using its LoJack system, but Joe promptly leaves upon discovering it.
Pete hatches a plan for Jesse to appear as if he fled, using Pete’s Ford Thunderbird and exchanging it for Jesse’s El Camino. With the money given by Walter, Badger drives south in the Thunderbird to give the illusion that Jesse is headed to Mexico. Meanwhile, Pete stays with the El Camino and waits for the police response from the LoJack. In another car, Jesse departs with Badger’s Pontiac Fiero. As he listens to the radio news, he learns of Walter’s deadly poisoning of a woman and his own death. In a flashback to when Jesse was held captive, Todd takes him to his apartment to dispose of his cleaning lady, who found his hidden money and was killed by Todd. Avoiding Todd’s nosy neighbor Lou Schanzer, they bury the body in the Painted Desert. For a brief moment, Jesse holds Todd’s unsecured pistol but is persuaded by Todd to return it.
