Emerald City (2017)
Emerald City (2017) is a captivating American fantasy drama on NBC, brought to life by Matthew Arnold and Josh Friedman. Inspired by L. Frank Baum’s classic Oz book series, the show takes place in the enchanting world of Oz. In this land, a widowed king weds the alluring Clementianna, but his disappearance during a battle against an evil force leaves her as Queen. Meanwhile, the beautiful stepdaughter, Princess Snow White, is confined to the palace walls. After ten long years, Snow White yearns for adventure and slips out of the palace. While exploring the kingdom, she meets Prince Andrew Alcott of Valencia who has been robbed by Dwarves; their instant attraction is undeniable. However, upon arriving in town, they discover that Queen Clementianna’s heavy taxes have left the townspeople destitute.
As Clementianna sets her sights on Alcott and his riches, she throws a lavish ball to win over the Prince. Unbeknownst to Clementianna, Snow White attends the ball in hopes of enlisting the prince’s help in saving her kingdom. However, when the queen spots Snow White dancing with the prince, she commands her servant Brighton to dispose of the princess by leaving her in the forest for a vicious beast to consume. Fortunately, Snow White escapes and finds refuge at the door of a group of dwarves known as Grimm, Butcher, Wolf, Napoleon, Half Pint, Grub, and Chuck. In order to fund her extravagant lifestyle, the queen orders Brighton to collect excessive taxes from the citizens. The dwarves decide to take matters into their own hands and steal back the money for themselves. Snow White then distributes their stolen earnings among the townspeople and gives credit to the dwarves who are praised as heroes by all.
