Face (1997)
A British crime drama Face (1997) follows a group of five men – Ray, Dave, Stevie, Julian (nicknamed Julie), and Jason – as they plan to steal over £2 million. Utilizing a truck that has been modified into a battering ram, they successfully break into a security depot in London and make off with a substantial amount of money before the arrival of the police. However, upon counting their loot, they realize that it falls far short of their expectations and each only receives £68,000. Despite this disappointment, Julian still demands extra payment for his ‘expenses’, but is assaulted and confined in the trunk of Ray’s car until he agrees to take his share. At a bar later on, without Julian, the group spends time with Sonny – Jason’s uncle and fellow criminal – as well as Connie – Ray’s girlfriend who happens to be a protester.
Additionally, Ray and Stevie pay a visit to an elderly couple named Linda and Bill where they stash their stolen money for safekeeping. The following day, Ray and Stevie, who reside with Connie, are informed by a bruised Dave that his money was taken by Julian. Together, they investigate Linda and Bill’s house and discover the couple has been killed and the money is missing. This leaves Ray devastated. He goes to confront Julian about his missing money but finds it gone as well. They come to the conclusion that Sonny must have taken it and head to his place. However, upon arrival, they find Jason dead with a head injury. As they see two undercover cops approaching, the group makes a quick escape. Dave and Julian engage in gunfire with the police before fleeing. Feeling worried about being charged with murder, Ray decides to run away once the money is found.
