Fading Gigolo (2013)
The comedy film Fading Gigolo (2013), starring and directed by John Turturro, follows a wealthy dermatologist named Dr. Parker who mentions to her patient Murray that she and her friend Selima are interested in a ménage à trois and asks if he knows of any willing men. Murray, struggling financially after his bookstore fails, persuades his former employee Fioravante to take on the gig. With Murray acting as their pimp, they quickly establish a successful gigolo business. Meanwhile, Murray lives with Othella and her children, one of whom gets head lice. To treat the child, Murray takes him to Avigal, a widow of a Hasidic rabbi. Eventually, Murray introduces Avigal to Fioravante as a massage therapist who can help her with her back pain. Despite being strictly observant of her religion and hesitant at first, Avigal allows Fioravante to give her a massage.
As tears filled her eyes, she felt a familiar touch for the first time in two years since her husband’s passing. Meanwhile, Dovi works for Shomrim, a neighborhood patrol in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and becomes suspicious of Murray. Despite his love for Avigal, she does not reciprocate his feelings. As Fioravante and Avigal continue to meet, their encounters eventually lead to a kiss in the park. Fioravante is asked to participate in a long-planned ménage, but he is unable to go through with it. The two women come to a cheerful realization – Fioravante has fallen in love with one of them. Murray’s disappearance leads him to being taken by a group of Hasids and brought before a Rabbinic Court for interrogation. However, Avigal interrupts and confesses to breaking the laws of modesty due to her loneliness.
