Fall (2022)

Fall (2022), a survival thriller film directed and co-written by Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, follows Becky and Hunter, two thrill-seekers who are climbing a mountain with Becky’s husband, Dan. During their climb, Dan is startled by a bat in a small cave and falls to his death after the harness breaks. 51 weeks later, Becky has become an alcoholic and has distanced herself from her father, James. James urges her to move on from Dan’s death, but Becky refuses and considers taking her own life with prescription medication. However, Hunter interrupts her with an invitation to climb the 2,000 foot (610 m) B67 TV tower in the desert. Initially hesitant, Becky ultimately agrees as she sees it as an opportunity to finally let go of Dan’s memory.
On their six hour journey to the tower, Hunter and Becky stop at a diner for dinner. It is there that they discover the tower has been decommissioned and is scheduled for demolition the following winter. Despite this knowledge, they continue on to the tower the next day. While climbing, Becky begins to have second thoughts but Hunter encourages her to keep going and face her fears. As they make their way up the ladder, Becky notices its deteriorating condition. Halfway up, she experiences a panic attack and attempts to turn back, but Hunter urges her to push through. The top 200 feet (61 m) of the tower must be climbed on an exterior ladder which is old and unstable. As they near the top, Hunter playfully jiggles the ladder, causing Becky to become frightened. Unbeknownst to them, this causes some bolts to loosen. Despite her initial hesitation, Becky reaches the top with a sense of accomplishment and scatters Dan’s ashes from above. However, as they begin their descent, the ladder gives way and almost seriously injures Becky.
