Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), a fantasy film directed by David Yates, follows Newt Scamander as he aids a Qilin in giving birth in Kweilin, China in 1932. Grindelwald’s followers, led by Credence Barebone, intervene and kill the mother and take the newborn. Grindelwald then takes the Qilin’s life to exploit its ability to see into the future. However, unbeknownst to them, there were actually two babies born. Luckily, Newt manages to rescue the younger twin before engaging in a battle against Grindelwald. Despite being unable to confront Grindelwald due to their blood pact, Albus Dumbledore enlists the help of Newt’s brother Theseus, Ilvermorny Charms professor Lally Hicks, Senegalese-French wizard Yusuf Kama, American No-Maj Jacob Kowalski and Newt’s assistant Bunty Broadacre to stop Grindelwald’s quest for world domination. To carry out this plan successfully, Yusuf is designated as a spy within Grindelwald’s inner circle while the others head to Berlin.

Upon arrival, the group bears witness to Grindelwald’s acquittal of all charges by the ICW, presumably due to infiltration. He then sets his sights on becoming Supreme Mugwump. The ICW considers arresting Grindelwald to boost his popularity, but fears that his defeat in a fair election would weaken him. Meanwhile, Grindelwald’s followers have been undermining the German Ministry of Magic and have taken Theseus prisoner. They also plan to assassinate Vicência Santos, the Brazilian candidate for Supreme Mugwump. Dumbledore enlists Newt and Lally to rescue Theseus and foil the assassination plot. While Newt rescues his brother from a covert German wizarding prison, Lally and Jacob thwart the attempt on Santos’ life. However, Grindelwald frames Jacob for trying to kill him, forcing them both to escape as he uses this as an excuse to turn the Wizarding world against Muggles.
