Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Wes Anderson directed Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), an American stop-motion animated comedy film. While pilfering Berk’s Squab Farm, our cunning protagonist sets off a fox trap, inadvertently trapping himself and his wife Felicity. In the midst of their escape, she reveals her pregnancy and implores her husband to find a less hazardous job. He agrees and two human years (12 fox years) later, the Fox family, now including their son Ash, is residing in a cozy hole. Despite warnings from their lawyer Clive Badger about the dangers of being close to three farmers – Walt Boggis, Nate Bunce, and Frank Bean – Mr. Fox ignores caution and moves the family into a tree-home he procured through his job as a newspaper columnist. Shortly after settling in, Felicity’s nephew Kristofferson Silverfox joins them as his father undergoes medical treatment for double pneumonia.
Upon arriving at the Foxes’ home, Ash is dismayed to see how well his cousin has been received. Despite his best efforts, Ash cannot compete with his cousin’s talents and finds himself constantly overshadowed. Meanwhile, Mr. Fox and Kylie continue their thieving ways with Kristofferson in tow, which only adds to Ash’s frustration. However, Felicity remains unaware of these secret outings until she discovers unexplained food in their larder. The farmers are enraged by these raids and decide to take drastic measures by attempting to kill Mr. Fox. Though they are unsuccessful in their first attempt and only manage to shoot off his tail, they persist in their pursuit by camping outside the Foxes’ escape tunnel and waiting for them to surface for sustenance. Meanwhile, Felicity expresses her disappointment that Mr. Fox has reverted back to his thieving ways underground.
