Feeling Minnesota (1996)
Feeling Minnesota (1996), an American crime comedy film written and directed by Steven Baigelman, tells the story of Freddie Clayton, a former stripper who finds herself indebted to nightclub owner Red. In order to repay her debt, Freddie agrees to marry Sam. However, at the wedding she meets Jjaks, Sam’s brother, and their instant chemistry leads them to run away together and take refuge in a motel. Realizing they have no money, they decide to return to Sam’s house and steal some cash. But their plan goes awry when Sam catches Jjaks in the act and a physical altercation ensues. Wounded and on the run from Sam, Jjaks returns to the motel where he passes out. Unbeknownst to him, Sam has been following him and takes his revenge by framing Jjaks for Freddie’s death.
The next morning, upon waking up, Jjaks cannot remember anything after his altercation with Sam. Upon seeing Freddie’s body and the gun in the room, he briefly considers the possibility that he may have killed her. Acting on a tip from Sam, the police show up but Jjaks manages to escape and takes Freddie’s body to a remote location in the woods for burial. Meanwhile, Sam observes from a distance, hoping Jjaks will be caught. Sam then contacts Detective Ben Costikyan, who promptly apprehends Jjaks. The group, along with Costikyan’s partner Lloyd, drives to the supposed location where Freddie was buried. However, when they arrive, they are unable to find her. Costikyan becomes angry at Sam for deceiving him and drives off with Lloyd, leaving the brothers by the side of the road.
