Stephen Merchant’s 2019 biographical sports comedy-drama, Fighting with My Family (2019), is based on Max Fisher’s 2012 documentary, The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family. Through the lens of Paige and her brother Zak Zodiac, the film tells the story of their journey to the WWE. Raised by renowned wrestlers Rick and Julia Knight, the siblings aspire to follow in their parents’ footsteps. After applying to join the WWE as adults, they meet veteran trainer Hutch Morgan at The O2 Arena before a SmackDown taping, where they also encounter WWE legend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Despite Paige’s pleas, Morgan only chooses her for WWE training and dismisses Zak. With no one else to stand up for her, Paige takes on the stage name ‘Paige’ and continues her path to the WWE alone.

Upon arriving at NXT in Florida, Paige encounters various challenges. One difficulty is the training, which proves to be particularly tough since her fellow trainees are primarily models and cheerleaders with little wrestling experience. This makes for poor opponents during practice matches. Another struggle for Paige is the choreographed promos, which go against her natural instincts and make things even more difficult. Additionally, Morgan constantly criticizes her mistakes, causing further frustration. During her debut at a live NXT event, Paige receives backlash from the audience and becomes overwhelmed, leaving the ring in tears. In an attempt to fit in with her peers, she bleaches her dark hair and gets a spray tan. However, this doesn’t seem to improve her training performance. After failing an obstacle course, Paige confronts the other trainees for gossiping about her behind her back.
