Finding Dory (2016) is a humorous and heartwarming animated film from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. The story follows Dory, a regal blue tang who was separated from her parents, Jenny and Charlie, as a child due to her short-term memory loss. She soon meets Marlin, a clownfish searching for his son Nemo, and they become close friends. Now living as neighbors in the reef with Marlin and Nemo, one day Dory suddenly remembers her parents and their home in the “Jewel of Morro Bay, California”. Determined to find them again, she sets out on a journey with Marlin and Nemo by her side. Along the way, they meet Crush, a helpful sea turtle who helps them ride the California Current to California. However, a mishap causes Dory to accidentally disturb a giant Humboldt squid that puts Nemo in danger. Worried for her friend’s safety, she leaves to seek help but unfortunately gets captured by staff members at the Marine Life Institute.
After being placed in quarantine and tagged, Dory meets a seven-legged octopus named Hank who, despite his brusque demeanor, has good intentions. Hank is also facing a potential transfer to an aquarium in Cleveland, Ohio, but he agrees to assist Dory in finding her parents in exchange for her tag. While exploring various exhibits at the institute, Dory reunites with Bailey and Destiny, old friends from her childhood who used to communicate through the pipes. It is then that she remembers how she became separated from her parents – pulled away by an undertow current into the pipes and ultimately out into the ocean. Meanwhile, Marlin and Nemo embark on a mission to rescue Dory with the help of two California sea lions and a common loon named Becky, successfully entering the institute and locating Dory.
