Fireheart (2022), a computer-animated adventure comedy directed by Theodore Ty and Lauren Zeitoun, takes place in 1930’s New York. The protagonist is Georgia Nolan, a determined 16-year-old with aspirations to become the first female firefighter. Despite being discouraged by her father Shawn, a former firefighter himself, who believes women are not fit for the job. The mayor of New York reaches out to Shawn and convinces him to lead a new team of young firefighters in stopping a serial arsonist using purple gas to hypnotize and kidnap fellow firefighters. In order to assist in their mission, Georgia disguises herself as Joe, a young man joining the team.
During his undercover mission, ‘Joe’ encounters a diverse group of firemen. Among them is Jin, a Chinese American who has a love for speed but also struggles with narcolepsy, which can be triggered by strong emotions. Ricardo, a Spanish American, gained his muscular physique from assisting his father at the steel mill, but his true passion lies in chemistry. He utilizes his skills to carefully calculate the most effective and safe methods for extinguishing fires. The final remaining concert hall is heavily guarded by police officers, yet Laura Devine, an African American opera singer, continuously sneaks in to practice for her upcoming performance.
