Firestarter: Rekindled (2002) is a two-part American television miniseries, serving as a sequel to the 1984 film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Firestarter. Vincent Sforza, employed by a prominent research firm, has been tasked with locating individuals involved in an old experiment from the 1970s. This experiment involved administering a chemical known as LOT-6 to a group of college students. These individuals are now part of a class action lawsuit and require contact for monetary compensation. Among those on the list is Charlene ‘Charlie’ McGee, the daughter of two participants in the experiment. As a child, Charlie’s mother Vicky was killed by agents working for the now-defunct Shop, a government agency seeking to exploit her pyrokinesis as a weapon. Her father Andy was also murdered by John Rainbird, a hired assassin employed by the Shop.
Ever since then, Charlie has been living under an assumed name and working at a university library. She’s determined to keep her pyrokinetic abilities under control. However, when Vincent finally tracks her down, his arrival sets off a chain of deadly events. It’s discovered that the supposed class action lawsuit settlement never actually existed. In fact, John Rainbird, who was believed to have died in the fire caused by Charlie, is still alive but horribly scarred. He remains fixated on finding Charlie and has been using the fake settlement as bait to lure other victims of the LOT-6 experiment out of hiding, in order to eliminate them one by one and cover up any evidence of wrongdoing.
