Flawless (2007)
Flawless (2007) is an acclaimed British heist film, helmed by director Michael Radford and penned by Edward Anderson. During an interview at a restaurant, Miss Laura Quinn, the first female manager at London Diamond Corporation, opens up to a reporter about her experiences as one of the pioneering women in the workforce. With dramatic flair, she unveils a box containing a stunning diamond and confesses, ‘I took it’. The intrigued journalist assumes that Quinn has paid for her crime with time behind bars. However, we are then taken back in time to 1960 when Quinn was still working at the corporation. Despite being more qualified than her male colleagues, she is once again overlooked for a promotion. It is only through janitor Hobbs’ offer of stealing just enough diamonds to become wealthy without attracting attention that Quinn sees a way out of her stagnant career.
Accepting her limited career options and aware of how her colleagues view her age, she agrees. While attending a social gathering at the Company President’s mansion, she discovers the combination codes for the vault. Quinn and Hobbs form a plan to exploit a flaw in the new camera security system. With Hobbs’ skills, they successfully steal almost two tons of diamonds from the vault and demand 100 million pounds as ransom through a middleman. The head of the insurance syndicate from King’s Row is ultimately forced to pay the ransom, leading to his financial ruin. Despite not consenting to this plan, Quinn is now trapped in the situation. To prevent any public attention, the company hires Mr. Finch as a private investigator. Immediately suspicious, Finch closely monitors both Hobbs and Quinn’s actions.
