Foolproof (2003) is a Canadian heist film directed by William Phillips. Kevin, Sam and Rob have created a game by the same name where they strategize and design plans to successfully burglarize various targets. However, instead of carrying out these heists in real life, they simply simulate them, using their technical and physical skills to complete the tasks required for the mission. Adhering to specific rules such as using identical equipment and infrastructure as their target and abstaining from firearms, everything goes smoothly until notorious criminal Leo Gillette breaks into Sam’s apartment and steals their plans for a jewelry warehouse heist. Using this leverage, Gillette forces the trio to devise and execute a plan to steal $20 million worth of bonds from a bank. Fearing incrimination due to the evidence held against them, Kevin, Sam and Rob reluctantly agree to Gillette’s demands.

The group becomes tense when Rob befriends Leo, and Kevin and Sam try to stop his plans. They obtain the security codes and successfully switch the bonds, only for things to take a turn when Leo and Rob force Kevin into an elevator and cause it to crash. Upon retrieving the bonds, Sam shoots Rob, followed by Leo shooting Sam. Unfortunately, all three friends are killed. However, it is later revealed that they had swapped out Leo’s gun with one loaded with blanks. As Sam and Kevin regain consciousness, they are greeted by Rob. Meanwhile, Leo returns home to find evidence against him planted by the gang as well as a fire started by them to destroy any incriminating evidence. Detective Mason takes Leo into custody while the friends drive away in their car.
