For a Few Dollars More (1965) is a Spaghetti Western directed by Sergio Leone. The notorious ‘Manco’ is a bounty hunter, much like his counterpart Colonel Douglas Mortimer, a former army officer. They each discover that the infamous ‘El Indio’ and his gang have escaped from prison after brutally murdering most of their jailers. Meanwhile, Indio is seen carrying a musical pocket watch that once belonged to a woman he raped and then killed her husband before she took her own life. This haunting incident leads him to smoke drugs in attempts to dull his memories. Planning to rob the Bank of El Paso which holds nearly one million dollars, Indio’s attention is caught by Manco when he arrives in town and crosses paths with Mortimer, who had arrived earlier.
After insulting Wild, who was scouting the bank, Mortimer and Manco come face to face. Without backing down, they agree to join forces. Mortimer persuades Manco to join Indio’s gang and carry out a plan to trap him. Manco succeeds by freeing one of Indio’s comrades from jail despite Indio’s suspicions. This leads Indio to send Manco and three others to rob a bank in Santa Cruz. However, Manco takes out the other three bandits and tricks the El Paso sheriff into heading to Santa Cruz by sending a false telegraphic alert. Meanwhile, the gang successfully robs the El Paso bank but cannot access the safe. Groggy is furious when only Manco returns from Santa Cruz, but thanks to a convincing neck wound given to him by Mortimer, Indio believes his version of events.
