Forces of Nature (1999)
Forces of Nature (1999) is an American romantic comedy film directed by Bronwen Hughes. Ben Holmes, a talented ‘blurb’ writer, is on his way from New York City to Savannah, Georgia for his wedding to Bridget. However, the flight is causing him some anxiety due to his fear of flying. His nerves become even more frayed when he meets Sarah, a carefree wanderer who strikes up a conversation with him immediately. Unfortunately, their flight is met with a scary incident as a bird collides with one of the engines, resulting in an emergency landing. Like many others on the plane, Ben is now apprehensive to fly again and agrees to join forces with Sarah and another passenger named Vic in renting a car for their journey to Savannah.
As Ben tries to make it to his wedding, he faces several obstacles. Initially, Vic’s decision to smoke marijuana on the road leads to their arrest and a detour from their journey. After being released, Ben and Sarah opt for train tickets to Georgia. On top of the train car, they take a moment to admire the scenic view before realizing they have gotten on the wrong train heading towards Chicago. In search of dry clothes and shelter from the rain, they stop at a KMart where they bond over their conversation about Ben’s conflicting emotions on marriage.
