Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988), an American supernatural slasher film directed by John Carl Buechler, follows Tina Shepard’s journey. After witnessing her alcoholic father’s abuse towards her mother, a young Tina flees in a boat to Crystal Lake. Her father chases after her, leading to his accidental death when Tina’s telekinetic abilities are unleashed and destroy the dock he’s standing on. Years later, as a teenager, Tina is still grappling with guilt over her father’s passing. In an attempt to help her heal, her mother Amanda brings her to the lake house where it all took place under the care of Dr. Crews. Through a series of manipulative techniques, he aims to provoke Tina’s powers and push her mental stability to its limits.
In reality, he is attempting to exploit her psychic abilities. After a distressing session with Dr. Crews, Tina flees from the cabin to the dock, where thoughts of her deceased father consume her. She longs for him to return, unknowingly unleashing Jason Voorhees – the infamous mass murderer who had previously been trapped at the bottom of Crystal Lake after Part 6. Unleashed once again, he embarks on yet another killing spree. Meanwhile, next door to Tina’s residence, a group of teenagers is throwing a birthday celebration for their friend Michael. The group includes Michael’s cousin Nick, preppy Russell and his girlfriend Sandra, Ben and his girlfriend Kate, science-fiction writer Eddie, stoner David, perky Robin, shy Maddy and snobby socialite Melissa. Upon Nick’s arrival at the party, he becomes captivated by Tina – much to Melissa’s dismay.
