The popular movie Frozen (2013), released by Walt Disney Pictures, tells the story of Princess Elsa from Arendelle who possesses magical abilities over ice and snow. After unintentionally hurting her sister Anna with her powers, their parents, the King and Queen, take them to a group of trolls led by Grand Pabbie for help. He uses his magic to heal Anna’s injury by removing her memories of Elsa’s abilities. As a precautionary measure, the King and Queen decide to keep Elsa isolated within the castle until she learns to control her powers. This isolation causes a rift between the sisters that continues into their adulthood. Sadly, their parents perish in a boating accident, leaving them alone. On Elsa’s coronation day, for the first time ever, the castle gates are opened to public visitors including Prince Hans from the Southern Isles.
Hans proposes to Anna, but Elsa objects and reveals her powers before the frightened court. The Duke of Weaselton accuses her of witchcraft, prompting Elsa to flee to the North Mountain where she can finally be free. She builds an ice palace and isolates herself, unaware that her magic has plunged Arendelle into an eternal winter. Meanwhile, Anna sets out to find Elsa and meets Kristoff and his reindeer Sven on the way. They are joined by Olaf, a snowman brought to life by Elsa’s powers. At the ice palace, Anna informs Elsa of their kingdom’s frozen state. In fear, Elsa accidentally strikes Anna with ice, freezing her heart. Desperate to protect her sister, she creates a massive snow monster that drives them away.
