Frozen (2010)
The American psychological survival horror film, Frozen (2010), was written and directed by Adam Green. Dan Walker, along with his girlfriend Parker O’Neal and best friend Joe Lynch, headed to a ski resort for a day of adventure on the slopes. However, on their final night at the resort, they convinced the ski lift operator to let them take one more run before the weather closed the resort for the week. The first operator then handed off responsibility to a second operator and mentioned that three people still needed to come down. Unfortunately, the second operator mistook another group of skiers for Dan, Parker and Joe and shut down the chairlift. This left the trio trapped high above the ground as they awaited rescue during a snowstorm that intensified with each passing hour. Even when a snow groomer appeared below them, its driver failed to notice their desperate situation.
As no one knows their whereabouts, Dan leaps off the chairlift in a desperate attempt to survive until help arrives. However, his decision results in both of his legs being fractured, rendering him immobile. Parker and Joe’s efforts to find a way down and assist Dan are interrupted by the arrival of a pack of wolves. Undeterred, Joe cautiously grasps onto the chairlift cable the following morning. Unfortunately, the vibrations cause the securing bolt of his chair to loosen, causing severe injury to his hands. Nonetheless, he manages to reach a nearby support tower and descend using the service ladder. On the ground, Joe finds himself once again facing off against the wolves but successfully defends himself with a ski pole. Promising Parker that he will return with help, Joe sets off down the mountain on Parker’s discarded snowboard with the wolves in pursuit.
