Frozen (2010)
After an afternoon skiing at a New England resort, childhood friends Dan Walker and Joe Lynch, and Dan’s girlfriend Parker O’Neil, convince the ski lift operator to let them have one last run down the mountain before they go home, despite a storm moving in. As the trio get to the top, the operator is replaced by a co-worker, who mistakes them for three other skiers who come off the mountain, and shuts down the lift, leaving Dan, Joe and Parker stranded high above the ground. Panicked, knowing the slopes are now closed for the weekend, Dan eventually decides to jump from the lift. Upon hitting the ground, he suffers a compound fracture on both of his legs. His screams and the scent of his blood soon attract a pack of wolves. Joe attempts to distract them but is unsuccessful, and Dan is torn apart by the wolves, leaving Parker distraught. The following morning, Parker awakes to find her gloveless hand frozen to the bar, and also realises she is suffering from severe frostbite. Joe attempts to traverse the ski lift cable, making it onto a nearby support tower, but doing this causes the bolt holding the chair to the cable to become dangerously loose.
On the ground, the wolves have gathered below, waiting for Joe. After being attacked, he manages to scare them off using a ski pole and then slides down the mountain on Parker’s snowboard, planning to return with help, but the wolves chase after him. Some time passes and Joe never returns, leading Parker to attempt to traverse the cable herself to the support pole. As she stands in the chair, the bolt comes loose and the lift falls, held by the cable a few metres above the ground. Parker jumps from the chair and lands safely, but the chair then falls and crushes her ankle, fracturing it.
