Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) is a post-apocalyptic action film directed and produced by George Miller, who also co-wrote the screenplay. Set in a dystopian Australia ravaged by the apocalypse, the story centers around two children, Furiosa and Valkyrie, who stumble upon the Green Place of Many Mothers while picking peaches. However, their peaceful moment is interrupted by a group of raiders led by Dementus of the Biker Horde. In an attempt to protect her home, Furiosa tries to sabotage the raiders’ motorcycles but ends up being captured as their leader’s prize. Meanwhile, her mother Mary sets off on a mission to rescue her daughter and eliminate the threat of the raiders. Though she manages to save Furiosa, Dementus remains in pursuit.

With no other option, Mary sacrifices herself to buy time for Furiosa’s escape and gives her daughter a small token – a peach pit – as a reminder of their bond. After attempting to conquer the Citadel, a neighboring settlement with vital resources like water and crops, Dementus is defeated by the War Boys – fiercely loyal soldiers under the command of Citadel leader Immortan Joe. In response, Dementus changes tactics and launches a surprise attack on Gastown, an oil refinery that provides fuel for the Citadel. Through negotiations, Joe acknowledges Dementus’s control over Gastown and agrees to increase its supplies of food and water in return for the Horde’s physician and Furiosa – a skilled warrior who carries a tattooed map to her homeland, the Green Place, on her arm.
