Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (2009) is an American adult animated science fiction comedy-adventure film. It is the fourth and final installment in the show’s fifth season that was released directly to DVD. In this film, the Planet Express crew pays a visit to Amy’s parents, Leo and Inez, who are demolishing and rebuilding Mars Vegas. However, their actions are met with opposition from eco-feminist group led by Frida Waterfall. An accident occurs during their protest which results in Fry having Frida’s necklace stuck in his brain. While Leela becomes upset over the destruction of the environment, Leo has bribed Professor Farnsworth to approve his project. On a positive note, Leela manages to rescue a rare Martian muck leech from the construction site before it’s too late. As for Fry, he begins to lose his mind as he can’t seem to silence the thoughts of those around him. He encounters Hutch, a nomad who suggests wearing a tinfoil hat to block out others’ thoughts and warns him about ‘Dark Ones’.
Leo announces plans to construct the Universe’s largest miniature golf course, resulting in the destruction of 12% of the Milky Way. Farnsworth and his team inspect the chosen location, which happens to be an asteroid within a violet dwarf star system flourishing with primitive life. Despite this discovery, Farnsworth gives his approval for Leo’s project. Leela, feeling appalled, joins forces with the eco-feminists who take action to halt the development. In another turn of events, Hutch introduces Fry to a group known as the ‘Legion of Mad Fellows’ – a covert organization made up of telepaths adorned with tin foil hats and led by No. 9. During their encounter, No. 9 shares a story about two species that once cooperated for survival until one triggered an ‘evolutionary arms race’. This competition resulted in both species evolving further in order to defeat each other. One of these species became extinct – known as the ‘Encyclopods’ – who specialized in preserving the DNA of endangered creatures to potentially revive them if needed. The other evolved into the ‘Dark Ones’, whose goal is to eliminate all forms of life. Interestingly enough, it turns out that the only surviving egg from the Enc
