Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008)

An American animated film called Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008) was released direct-to-video. Based on the popular animated series of the same name, it is the second installment of four straight-to-DVD films that make up season five. A month after a tear in the universe causes chaos, life goes on for the characters. Amy and Kif tie the knot, while Fry begins dating Colleen. However, their relationship doesn’t last long when Fry discovers she has other boyfriends. At a conference, Professor Farnsworth suggests an expedition to investigate the anomaly. During this expedition, Bender’s touch triggers a shock wave that sends him and the ship flying. It is soon discovered that only living beings can safely pass through the anomaly; electrical objects are either repelled or destroyed. Despite Farnsworth’s request for another expedition, it is decided that a military assault led by Zapp Brannigan will take place instead. Tragically, this results in Kif’s death as Fry bravely enters the anomaly alone.

On the opposite side of the anomaly, Fry encounters a vast, one-eyed creature named ‘Yivo’, whose tentacles start emerging through the portal. These tentacles make contact with every being in the universe and cannot be stopped due to their unique composition of ‘electro-matter’, impervious to any other type of matter. Upon returning to Earth, Fry brings along Yivo’s tentacle attached to his neck and promotes everyone to ’embrace the tentacle’. As a result, Yivo’s tentacles entwine with almost everyone, causing them to develop feelings for it. In contrast, Leela remains unattached. Fry becomes the leader of a new religion devoted to worshiping Yivo while Leela examines one of its tentacle fragments and discovers they are actually reproductive organs. She reveals this revelation at a universal religious gathering.
