Georgia Rule (2007)
Georgia Rule (2007) is an American comedy-drama film directed by Garry Marshall and written by Mark Andrus. Rachel, a teenager known for her promiscuity and heavy drinking, has been struggling with drug addiction and rebellious behavior. Unfortunately, her repeated negative actions have led to her mother Lily enforcing the final rule in their San Francisco home. With no other options, Lily brings Rachel to stay at her grandmother Georgia’s house in Idaho –a place she promised to never return to. Georgia lives by a strict set of rules that prioritize God and hard work, expecting anyone under her roof to do the same. Despite the challenging situation, Georgia shows great patience as she tries to understand Rachel’s anger issues during their summer together. As a favor to help out, Georgia gets Rachel a job as a receptionist at Dr. Simon Ward’s veterinary clinic, where he also treats people.
Sam and Ethan, Dr.Ward’s nephews, are frequent visitors at Georgia’s house. Rachel initially assumes Simon is gay because he shows no romantic interest in her or any other women. However, Simon’s sister Paula reveals that he is still grieving the loss of his wife and son, who passed away in a car accident three years ago. Despite Rachel attempting to seduce him, Simon refuses to engage in sexual activity with her. Yet, he does harbor some lingering feelings for Lily, Rachel’s mother, whom he once dated. When Simon opens up to his girlfriend June about this, she is taken aback. Later on, a group of LDS girls keep an eye on Harlan and Rachel to ensure that they do not engage in any more sexual encounters. After chasing them with his truck, Rachel explains to the team that everything is resolved and they can resume enjoying their summer activities.
