Ghostbusters (2016)

Ghostbusters (2016) is an American supernatural comedy film directed by Paul Feig, who co-wrote it with Katie Dippold. Due to the original cast’s refusal and the passing of Harold Ramis in 2014, Sony Pictures decided to reboot the series. Some familiar faces from the first film and their relatives make brief appearances in new roles, while Ramis is honored in the closing credits. Paranormal researcher Abby Yates and physicist Erin Gilbert team up to prove the existence of ghosts in modern society. When strange apparitions appear in Manhattan, they enlist engineer Jillian Holtzmann for assistance. Lifelong New Yorker Patty Tolan also joins forces with them, utilizing her extensive knowledge of the city. With proton packs and a lot of attitude, these four women brace themselves for an epic showdown as over 1,000 mischievous ghouls take over Times Square.

After an unsuccessful attempt to conceal her unconventional background and beliefs surrounding supernatural phenomena, Erin Gilbert, a physicist scorned by Columbia University, is now unemployed. Adding to her troubles, Erin must reconcile with her disgraced former colleague Abby Yates in order to make ends meet and validate their theories on ghosts. To aid in their pursuits and pay the bills, the determined pair welcomes the assistance of tech guru Jillian Holtzmann and novice Patty Tolan as they scour New York City for proof of otherworldly activity. Little do they know, however, that danger looms ahead. Once again, the unsuspecting city is at risk. Will the Ghostbusters live up to their famed reputation?
