Going in Style (2017)
Going in Style (2017) is an American remake of the 1979 comedy film of the same name. Joe, Willie, and Albert are senior citizens and lifelong friends residing in New York City. During an unpleasant bank visit, Joe witnesses a robbery by three masked individuals. The leader of the group has a Mongol warrior tattoo on his neck, which could potentially be helpful for identifying him to the police. This man shows compassion towards Joe after learning about his financial struggles caused by the bank. The robbers make off with over $1.6 million. Unfortunately, when their company is taken over, their pensions are affected by the restructuring process. Joe is hit the hardest and soon discovers that he, along with his daughter Rachel and granddaughter Brooklyn, will be without a home in less than thirty days.
Willie discovers he is seriously sick with kidney failure and in need of a transplant. He feels even more aggravated due to his financial struggles, which have led to a separation from his daughter and granddaughter who live far away. In a state of desperation, the trio decides to take matters into their own hands by robbing the bank that is withholding their pension funds. The motivation for this scheme comes from Joe, who was inspired by their experience at the bank. Although initially repulsed by the idea, both Albert and Willie eventually come around after discovering the bank’s plan to steal their hard-earned money. In an attempt to steal some items from Annie’s workplace, a grocery store, things take an unfortunate turn and turn into a humorous mishap for Al and his love interest.
