Grudge Match (2013) is an American sports comedy film directed by Peter Segal. Two Pittsburgh boxers, Henry ‘Razor’ Sharp and Billy ‘The Kid’ McDonnen, were fierce rivals during their prime. Despite each having only one loss on their records, Kid defeating Razor in one fight and Razor defeating Kid in the other, they never had a chance for a rematch. When Razor suddenly retires without explanation, Kid is left infuriated and robbed of a big payday. Many years later, Razor finds himself short on cash and working at a shipyard when he is approached by promoter Dante Slate Jr., the son of the man whose shady business dealings left Razor in financial trouble. Razor, who speaks quietly but with conviction, wants no part in Slate Jr.’s plan to use his motion capture performance for a video game.

On the other hand, Kid – known for his showmanship as he runs both a bar and car dealership – is all for it. Reluctantly, Razor agrees to the job after realizing he needs $15,000 to take care of his former trainer Lightning Conlon’s medical expenses and pay off his overdue bills. At the studio, Razor is taken aback and provoked by Kid’s unexpected presence, as Dante had also invited him. Their altercation leads to damage to the studio and their subsequent arrest. The footage of their fight is circulated on YouTube, sparking Dante’s idea for a final showdown between Razor and Kid, aptly dubbed ‘Grudgement Day’. Kid eagerly agrees, while Razor reluctantly does so due to not receiving his promised $15,000 and finding out he has lost his job at the shipyard.
