Halloween (1978)

Halloween (1978) is a classic slasher film directed, co-written, and scored by the talented John Carpenter. In 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers committed a heinous act, stabbing his teenage sister Judith to death with a kitchen knife on Halloween night. Years later, his psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis accompanies nurse Marion Chambers to the sanitarium where Michael is held for a court hearing. However, things take a terrifying turn when Michael takes advantage of an opportunity and escapes in Marion’s car. He heads back to his hometown of Haddonfield, where he continues his murderous rampage. Along the way, he acquires new clothing and his iconic white mask from a hardware store. His target becomes teenager Laurie Strode, who inadvertently caught his attention by dropping off a key at his abandoned childhood home. Despite her warnings, Laurie’s friends Annie Brackett and Lynda Van Der Klok do not believe her concerns about Michael’s presence throughout the day.

Upon his arrival in Haddonfield, Loomis discovers that Michael has taken Judith’s tombstone from the local cemetery. He meets up with Sheriff Leigh Brackett, Annie’s father, and together they search for Michael. During their investigation of the old Myers house, Loomis recounts his realization that Michael is purely evil. That evening, Michael stalks Annie and Laurie as they babysit. While Laurie looks after Tommy Doyle, Annie stays with Lindsey Wallace across the street. To their horror, Michael watches Annie and kills the Wallace family dog. Despite Tommy’s sighting of ‘the boogeyman’ from the windows, Laurie dismisses his fears. Later on, Annie takes Lindsey to stay at the Doyle house so she can meet her boyfriend. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to them both, Michael is hiding in her car and ultimately kills Annie. Meanwhile, Lynda and Bob arrive at the Wallace house to find it deserted.
