Halloween (2018), a slasher film from director David Gordon Green, was co-written by Green, Jeff Fradley, and Danny McBride. On October 29th of that year, notorious killer Michael Myers, who had previously gone on a deadly rampage in Haddonfield and had been confined to Smith’s Grove Psychiatric Hospital for four decades, was scheduled to be transferred to a maximum-security prison. While at the hospital, true crime podcasters Aaron Korey and Dana Haines displayed Michael’s signature mask to him with no response. Meanwhile in Haddonfield, Laurie Strode still lived in terror of his return and remained secluded in her heavily-fortified home while Karen, her estranged daughter who had been taken away by the state at age 12, struggled with their strained relationship. Allyson, Laurie’s granddaughter, attempted to maintain a connection with her grandmother. However, on the night before Halloween as Michael was being transported, chaos erupted when the bus crashed and he escaped following the murder of two individuals and theft of their truck.
On October 31st, Michael catches sight of Aaron and Dana visiting his sister Judith’s grave. In response, he eliminates them both, along with a mechanic for his outfit, and retrieves his mask from Aaron’s car. Meanwhile, Karen dismisses Laurie’s warnings about Michael’s escape and urges her to move on. Later that evening, Allyson discovers her boyfriend Cameron cheating on her at a party and leaves with his friend Oscar. Tragically, Michael also takes the lives of Allyson’s best friend Vicky and her boyfriend Dave. Fortunately, Deputy Frank Hawkins and Laurie hear the chaos over the radio and hasten to the scene. After 40 long years, Laurie finally comes face-to-face with Michael once again and fires at him before he escapes. Eventually, the authorities escort Laurie, Karen, and her husband Ray back to Laurie’s home for protection.
