On Halloween night in 2019, Corey Cunningham finds himself babysitting a mischievous young boy named Jeremy Allen who plays a prank on him by trapping him in the attic. In an attempt to free himself when Jeremy’s parents return home, Corey accidentally causes Jeremy to fall to his death while knocking open the door. Initially arrested for murder, Corey is later cleared of manslaughter but still faces social backlash from his community.
In 2018, Michael Myers caused a deadly spree in Haddonfield, Illinois, and has since disappeared. The town is still recovering from the trauma three years later. Laurie Strode now lives with her granddaughter Allyson and is working on a memoir. Meanwhile, Corey is employed at his stepfather’s salvage yard. One day on his way home, he is attacked by high school bullies and gets hurt. Laurie witnesses this and takes him to the doctor’s office where Allyson works. As Corey and Allyson grow closer, they attend a Halloween party together. However, Mrs. Allen causes trouble for Corey at the party. He leaves and encounters the bullies again who throw him off a bridge into the sewers where Michael appears and chokes him before letting him go. While trying to escape, Corey gets into a struggle with a homeless man and accidentally kills him in self-defense before fleeing the scene.
