Hard Rain (1998)
Hard Rain (1998), an action thriller flick by former cinematographer-turned director Mikael Salomon and written by Graham Yost, follows the story of armored truck drivers Tom and his uncle Charlie. Braving conditions of heavy rain and flooding, they are on a mission to collect money from banks in an evacuated Huntingburg, Indiana. However, things take an intense turn when they are ambushed by a gang of armed robbers led by Jim and accompanied by Kenny, Mr. Mehlor, and Ray. In the midst of chaos, Charlie calls for help but is tragically killed by Kenny while Tom narrowly escapes with the cash, hiding it in a cemetery. The gang pursues Tom relentlessly until he seeks refuge in a nearby church where he is mistaken for a looter by Karen who knocks him unconscious.
When he comes to, Tom finds himself locked up and shares his story with Sheriff Mike Collig about the robbery and stolen money. Mike and Chief Deputy Wayne Bryce leave to investigate while Deputy Phil is ordered to escort Karen out of town. However, Karen decides to return to protect the church she is restoring and pushes Phil out of their boat. The dam operator of the town, Hank, is forced to open a spillway, resulting in a large wave and deeper flooding. Tom becomes trapped in his cell as the water continues to rise. Karen comes to his rescue after protecting the church and they hide from the gang. Unfortunately, Kenny ends up getting electrocuted.
