Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) is a fantasy film directed by David Yates and written by Steve Kloves. Based on J. K. Rowling’s novel of the same name, it is the first of two cinematic installments. At Malfoy Manor, Severus Snape meets with Lord Voldemort and his followers to report that Harry Potter will be moved to a safe location by the Order of the Phoenix. Voldemort takes Lucius Malfoy’s wand since his own is powerless against Harry’s, as they both share a phoenix feather core. During this move, Harry survives an attack from Voldemort, but unfortunately, Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwig do not make it. As preparations for Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s wedding are underway, the new Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour shows up. He informs Harry, Ron, and Hermione that Albus Dumbledore has left them each a gift: Ron a Deluminator, Hermione a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry the Golden Snitch he caught in his first Quidditch match.
Despite these generous gifts, Dumbledore also intended to pass down the Sword of Gryffindor to Harry. During the wedding, news spreads that Scrimgeour is dead and the Ministry has fallen. Amidst the chaos, Death Eaters attack and Harry, Ron, and Hermione flee to Number 12, Grimmauld Place. While seeking refuge there, Ron realizes that Sirius’ brother, Regulus Black – also known as R.A.B – had taken Salazar Slytherin’s locket from Voldemort. However, it was later sold to Dolores Umbridge by a local thief named Mundungus Fletcher. To recover it, the trio ventures into the Ministry undercover but are pursued by Death Eaters in a chaotic escape. Injuries sustained by Ron prompt them to disapparate to a nearby forest. With determination to destroy all of Voldemort’s Horcruxes fueling them, the trio begins their journey with recovering and destroying the locket first.
