In the fantasy film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011), directed by David Yates from a screenplay by Steve Kloves, our hero must seek help from the goblin Griphook after burying Dobby. With Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger by his side, Harry suspects a Horcrux is hidden in Bellatrix Lestrange’s vault at Gringotts bank. Griphook agrees to assist them, on the condition that he receives the Sword of Gryffindor in return. Ollivander informs Harry that two wands previously belonging to Bellatrix and Draco Malfoy were taken from Malfoy Manor; sensing a change in allegiance, he reveals that Draco’s wand now responds to Harry. At Bellatrix’s vault, they find Helga Hufflepuff’s cup as a Horcrux; however, Griphook betrays them by snatching the sword and abandoning them. In their attempt to escape from security guards at Gringotts, they unleash a dragon guardian and make their exit riding on its back. While at Gringotts bank, Harry has a disturbing vision of Lord Voldemort fuming over their theft.
The trio apparate into Hogsmeade and are aided by Aberforth Dumbledore, who had sent Dobby to Malfoy Manor. He then shows them a secret passageway into Hogwarts, which Neville Longbottom guides them through. Severus Snape is aware of Harry’s return and threatens repercussions for anyone who helps him. During a confrontation with Snape, Harry engages in a duel with Professor McGonagall before Snape flees. McGonagall rallies the Hogwarts community for battle while Luna Lovegood encourages Harry to speak with Helena Ravenclaw’s ghost. Helena reveals that Voldemort used “dark magic” on her mother’s diadem and informs Harry that it can be found in the Room of Requirement. Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione successfully destroy the Horcrux cup with a Basilisk fang in the Chamber of Secrets.
