Headhunters (2011)
Headhunters (2011) is a Norwegian action thriller film based on Jo Nesbø’s 2008 novel of the same name. The story follows Roger Brown, Norway’s most successful headhunter, who funds his extravagant lifestyle by stealing paintings from his clients. He is aided by his partner Ove, who works at a surveillance company and disables security systems for their heists. Roger declines an invitation to dinner from his mistress Lotte, leading to the end of their relationship. Meanwhile, Roger’s wife Diana, an art gallery owner, introduces him to Clas Greve, a former executive at GPS tech company HOTE. As Roger looks to recruit the next CEO for rival firm Pathfinder, he sees potential in Clas as a candidate. Diana also reveals that Clas has asked her to authenticate a lost Rubens painting he inherited, rumored to be worth millions.
Roger successfully persuades Clas to join him for a lunch meeting to discuss the potential job opportunity. He discovers that Clas is a former member of TRACK, a specialized special forces unit with expertise in tracking individuals. Additionally, he learns that Clas played a crucial role in developing HOTE’s nanotechnology GPS tracking gel, known for its difficulty to remove. Despite initial hesitation, Roger ultimately meets with Ove to iron out the details of their plan to steal the painting. In a successful attempt, Roger manages to take the painting from Clas’ residence but comes across Diana’s cell phone next to his bed. This discovery hints at an affair between Clas and Diana due to Roger’s unwillingness to have children with his wife.
