Heart and Souls (1993) is an American fantasy comedy-drama film directed by Ron Underwood. Set in San Francisco in 1959, four individuals board the same night trolleybus. Penny, a single mother, regrets leaving her three children at home to work the night shift. Harrison, a wannabe singer, has backed out of an important audition due to stage fright. Meanwhile, Julia leaves her job as a waitress to visit her boyfriend John, who had proposed to her but was rejected. Milo, a small-time thief, also joins them after failing to retrieve valuable stamps that he had swindled off a young boy. The trolleybus driver is Hal, who becomes distracted by an attractive passenger in another car and accidentally drives off an overpass, resulting in the death of all passengers on board.

While Frank Reilly drives his pregnant wife Eva to the hospital, a trolleybus nearly crashes into them. Thanks to Frank’s quick reaction, they narrowly avoid disaster. But during the chaos, Eva goes into labor and gives birth in the car. Tragically, Hal passes away at the same time, and for unknown reasons, his soul and those of three other passengers become attached to Thomas, their newborn son. Only Thomas can see and hear them, as they are bound to him wherever he goes. As time goes by, the four souls develop a deep love for Thomas and he reciprocates. However, as Thomas matures, his parents worry about his fixation on these ‘invisible people’ and contemplate getting him help or separating from each other.
