The American sports comedy film, Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005), directed by Angela Robinson, follows the adventures of a spirited Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. After losing multiple races, Herbie is towed to a junkyard and decommissioned. Meanwhile, Maggie Peyton, the youngest member of the racing Peyton family, finishes college and secures an internship at ESPN. To celebrate her achievement, her father Ray takes her to the junkyard to choose a car as a graduation gift. Amidst the selection process, Herbie escapes from a crane and lands on top of the car Maggie initially picked out. With no hesitation, Maggie decides to go with Herbie and brings him to her mechanic friend Kevin for some much-needed repairs at a car show.
Herbie successfully deceives Maggie into donning a racing ensemble and challenging renowned NASCAR champion Trip Murphy to a spontaneous race, which Herbie narrowly wins. Kevin excitedly puts forth the idea of Maggie pursuing racing full-time, but Ray Sr. expresses unease, as he had previously forbidden her from participating in street racing after an accident years ago. Trip becomes fixated on Herbie and their elusive driver, arranging a local competition in hopes of luring them back for a rematch. With Herbie sporting a fresh ‘street racer look’ and upgraded parts, Maggie and Kevin enter the event. The duo dominates the other participants, securing their place in the final match against Trip. However, when Trip convinces Maggie to wager pink slips on the race, Herbie’s envy over her desire to win his stock car ultimately leads to their defeat.
