Hercules (2014)

Hercules (2014) is an American action-adventure fantasy film featuring Dwayne Johnson in the lead role. Directed by Brett Ratner and written by Ryan J. Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos, the film follows the journey of the eponymous character as he leads a team of mercenaries consisting of King-turned-prophet Amphiaraus, thief Autolycus, feral warrior Tydeus, Amazon archer Atalanta, and storyteller Iolaus. Known as a demigod and supposedly the son of Zeus, Hercules is known for completing the Twelve Labors after being deceived by his stepmother Hera into killing his family while under a spell. However, there are doubts surrounding his divine lineage and legendary feats. Despite this skepticism, Hercules showcases extraordinary strength and unparalleled fighting abilities. While haunted by visions of Cerberus and the tragic loss of his loved ones, Hercules continues to prove himself as a formidable warrior.
In 358 BC, on the Macedonian Coast in Northern Greece, Hercules and his team meet Ergenia. She brings a request from her father King Cotys, who wants Hercules to train the Thracian armies against the violent warlord Rhesus in order to protect their kingdom. The band agrees after being promised Hercules’s weight in gold and is welcomed to Thrace by Cotys and General Sitacles, leader of the Thracian army. Despite Hercules’s reluctance and the unpreparedness of the army, Cotys forces them to engage in battle with Rhesus’ approaching forces at Central Thrace. However, it turns out that Rhesus has used some kind of sorcery to turn the Bessi tribe against the Thracians. After a lengthy and disastrous battle, resulting in significant casualties among the Thracian forces, Hercules and his allies finally train them properly.
