Hilda (2018 — 2023)

Based on Luke Pearson’s graphic novel series of the same name, Hilda (2018–2023) is an exciting animated streaming TV show that has received critical acclaim throughout its run. It tells the story of Hilda, a brave 11-year-old with blue hair, her mother Johanna, and their deerfox companion Twig as they move to Trolberg after their home in the forest is destroyed. Despite leaving the wilderness for a bustling city, Hilda still manages to make friends with even the most dangerous of monsters. The show has been recognized for its excellence, winning several Annie Awards, including ‘Best Children’s Series’ two years in a row, as well as Emmy Awards for ‘Outstanding Main Title Sequence’, ‘Outstanding Children’s TV Series’, and ‘Outstanding Editing in a Daytime Program’, tying with Animaniacs for the latter award.

Hilda, a young girl, grew up in a small cabin on the edge of the woods with her mother Johanna. Seeking a better life and proper upbringing for Hilda, they eventually settle permanently in the walled-in city of Trolberg. Throughout the series, Hilda, accompanied by her deerfox Twig and later an elf named Alfur, as well as best friends Frida and David, embarks on numerous adventures interacting with and befriending the enigmatic creatures, humans, and spirits that inhabit Trolberg and its surroundings.
