Hollow Man (2000)

Hollow Man (2000), a science fiction thriller film by Paul Verhoeven and written by Andrew W. Marlowe, follows the story of scientist Sebastian Caine. Possessing both brilliance and narcissism, Sebastian has created a serum for the military that renders its subject invisible. His team, consisting of ex-girlfriend Linda McKay, Matt Kensington, Sarah Kennedy, Janice Walton, Carter Abbey, and Frank Chase, successfully reverses the procedure and restores visibility to an invisible gorilla. Sebastian’s feelings for Linda resurface but she is now involved with Matt without his knowledge. Instead of informing the military of their success, Sebastian deceives an oversight committee that includes his mentor Howard Kramer.

He tells them he needs more time despite being on the verge of human testing without authorization from the military, keeping some members of his team in the dark about his actions. After a successful procedure, Sebastian becomes completely invisible and finds joy in causing mischief around the lab. However, his pranks become a cause for concern among his colleagues. Unfortunately, attempts to reverse the invisibility don’t work and almost result in his demise. In response to this, he is confined to the laboratory and given a latex mask to wear. But with constant testing and isolation taking its toll on him, Sebastian resists orders and leaves the building to return home. Upon arrival, he indulges in his old habit of observing his neighbor undressing – but now realizes that with his newfound power, he can take his voyeurism even further.
