Home for the Holidays (1995) is an American family comedy-drama film directed by Jodie Foster. Claudia Larson, a single mother who was recently let go from her job, flies from Chicago to Baltimore to spend Thanksgiving with her parents, Adele and Henry. Meanwhile, her daughter opts to stay home with her boyfriend. On the plane, Claudia calls her brother Tommy, who she thinks won’t be at the dinner, and vents about her struggles on his voicemail. At their parents’ house in Baltimore, Tommy shows up with his business partner Leo Fish – whom Claudia mistakes for his new romantic partner. While Claudia is happy to see her brother, she worries that he and his long-time boyfriend Jack have broken up.

The next day, Claudia runs into a former classmate while in town and is upset by their talk of her divorce. Leo steps in to help. On Thanksgiving Day, Aunt Gladys (Adele’s sister), who is showing signs of dementia, confesses her feelings for Henry. Later on, Tommy accidentally drops the turkey all over himself and Claudia’s sister Joanne, causing an argument. During the argument, Joanne reveals that Tommy had secretly married Jack in a beach ceremony several months ago. To escape from the commotion, Tommy and Claudia have their dinner in the kitchen. Afterward, Tommy, Leo, Joanne’s husband Walter, and son Walter Jr. play football but end up getting into a physical fight out of frustration.
