Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018)

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018) is an American monster comedy film created by Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. In the late 1800s, Dracula and his companions travel incognito on a train headed for Budapest. However, their plans are disrupted when Dracula’s nemesis, Professor Abraham Van Helsing, shows up and exposes the group. In order to protect his friends, Dracula pushes them off the train while the monsters make their escape through the roof. Van Helsing becomes determined to destroy Dracula, but is consistently outsmarted by him. Fast forward to present day – one year after the events of the previous film – and we find that Drac is successfully managing his hotel business with help from Mavis and Johnny. Despite his efforts to find love again after losing his wife Martha, Drac remains single and depressed. Mistaking this for overwork-induced stress, Mavis books a cruise so they can all relax and enjoy some quality family time together. Joining Drac, Johnny, Mavis, Dennis, Vlad and other hotel guests on board their ship called Legacy.

Upon glimpsing the ship’s human captain, Ericka, Drac is instantly smitten, a feeling he believed impossible after previously experiencing a ‘zing’. Later on, Ericka discreetly meets her great-grandfather, Abraham Van Helsing, in a secretive room located on the lower decks. Van Helsing’s body has been almost entirely mechanized in an attempt to cheat death and he unveils his plan to annihilate all monsters once the cruise reaches Atlantis’ lost city. He makes Ericka vow not to assassinate Dracula beforehand, although she repeatedly fails at carrying out this promise. As Ericka vents about her unsuccessful attempts to take down Drac, his friends mistakenly interpret this as a sign of her fondness towards him. With hesitation, Drac nervously asks Ericka out on a date and to his surprise, she agrees due to her hopes of finally killing him.
