How to Rob a Bank (2007)
The film How to Rob a Bank (2007) is an American independent crime comedy that follows the story of Jinx Taylor. In an attempt to withdraw his last $20, Jinx encounters a problem with the ATM transaction fee, leaving him unable to retrieve his money from the bank. Frustrated by this and other hidden charges that complicate his life, Jinx finds himself locked in the bank vault with a bound and gagged Jessica. However, as he rants about corporations taking advantage of people like him, we soon realize that Jessica is not a hostage but actually working with Simon’s armed team to rob the bank. Jinx’s unexpected arrival throws a wrench into their plans and results in both he and Jessica being trapped inside the vault.
Furthermore, Jinx has notified the authorities, who have now surrounded the bank under the guidance of Officer DeGepse. While speaking to Simon on the phone, Jinx discovers that Jessica is the only one with access and knowledge of a special computer inside the vault, making her capable of opening it. Simon becomes increasingly agitated as he fails to coerce Jinx into opening the vault for them to steal from the safe deposit boxes. This frustration is also shared by Officer DeGepse as he finds himself unable to take control of the situation, with Jinx seemingly leading the way. As events unfold, Jinx and Jessica realize they have similar feelings of being manipulated and this newfound understanding leads them to plan an escape.
