How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) is an American animated action fantasy film based on the book series by Cressida Cowell. Five years after the Viking villagers of Berk and the dragons made peace, Hiccup and his dragon Toothless explore new territories. Despite pressure from his father Stoick, who wants him to become chieftain, Hiccup feels uncertain about being ready for the role. During an expedition, Hiccup and his friend Astrid stumble upon a frozen fortress inhabited by a group of dragon trappers led by Eret, working for a man named Drago Bludvist. This villainous figure aims to capture and enslave all dragons as his army. Hiccup and Astrid flee to warn Stoick about Drago’s plans, prompting him to fortify their village in preparation for battle. However, Hiccup remains determined to find a peaceful solution and ventures out to speak with Drago himself. Stoick cautions him against this plan, revealing that he has met Drago before at a gathering where he had offered protection in exchange for servitude; when they declined, he unleashed his dragons upon them, with Stoick as the sole survivor.

Undeterred, Hiccup sets off with Toothless in search of Drago, hoping to reason with him. Along the way, they cross paths with a mysterious dragon rider – none other than Hiccup’s long-lost mother, Valka. She had been presumed dead after being snatched by a dragon during a raid years ago. Valka shares that she too has a deep love for dragons and has been rescuing them from Drago’s clutches. She has created an island sanctuary using ice crafted by a powerful alpha dragon known as the ‘Bewilderbeast’. This beast can control other dragons through hypnotic sound waves. Stoick and Gobber eventually catch up to Hiccup at the sanctuary and are speechless when they realize that Stoick’s beloved wife is alive and well. Meanwhile, Astrid and her fellow riders persuade Eret to lead them to Drago, but they are captured along the way. Learning about Berk’s dragons, Drago sends his army to attack the sanctuary in hopes of seizing control of even more dragons. He also tries to execute Eret as punishment for his betrayal, but Astrid’s dragon Stormfly comes to the rescue. Grateful for being saved,
