How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019) is a thrilling animated fantasy movie based on Cressida Cowell’s popular book series. Following his rise to chiefdom, Hiccup and his trusty Night Fury, Toothless, alongside their fellow dragon-riders, continue to save captured dragons and bring them back to Berk. However, the island is becoming crowded with these newfound creatures. Determined to find a safe haven for the dragons as told by his late father Stoick, Hiccup sets out to locate the fabled ‘Hidden World’. At the same time, a Light Fury dragon is being used as bait for notorious dragon hunter Grimmel the Grisly by warlords who want Toothless as their alpha. When Toothless falls for the Light Fury after discovering her in the woods, she hastily leaves upon sensing Hiccup and Astrid’s presence. Eventually, Hiccup and Tuffnut stumble upon Grimmel’s dragon traps in their surroundings.

That night, Grimmel pays Hiccup a visit, demanding Toothless be handed over. He also reveals that he is responsible for the near extinction of every Night Fury. However, Hiccup has prepared an ambush for him. Despite Grimmel’s escape, his Deathgripper dragons set fire to Hiccup’s home and Berk. In response, Hiccup rallies the citizens and dragons to embark on a journey to the Hidden World in search of safety from dragon hunters. Along the way, they stumble upon an island where they decide to rest and ultimately establish their new home called ‘New Berk’. In order to improve Toothless’ relationship with the Light Fury, Hiccup rebuilds an automatic tailfin for him. When Toothless receives this upgrade, he takes off and reunites with the Light Fury in an unknown land. During a scouting mission, Valka notices Grimmel’s army approaching and informs Hiccup. He and the dragon riders attempt to capture Grimmel but are lured into a trap and barely escape. Despite Ruffnut being captured by Grimmel, she manages to irritate him enough to secure her release.
