Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (2011) is an animated TV special and an installment of the Ice Age franchise. It was created by Blue Sky Studios under the direction of Karen Disher. Set eight years after the third film and before the fourth, it follows Scrat as he tries to steal an acorn from a beaver’s food stash, only to end up losing all his treasure when it rolls away. At the same time, Manny brings out a special Christmas Rock from storage to surprise his daughter Peaches during a snowball fight with her friends Crash and Eddie. The rock holds sentimental value for Manny as it has been passed down through generations and acts as a beacon for Santa Claus to find them on Christmas Eve.
Diego and Sid enter to see the Christmas Rock, but Sid mocks it. Manny stops Sid from getting near the rock and in search of new decorations, Sid decides to find a tree. With help from Crash and Eddie, they decorate the tree with insects, small animals, and fish bones. As a finishing touch, Sid places a star-shaped piece of ice on top. Unfortunately, it flies off like a boomerang and hits the Christmas Rock, breaking it. Manny is outraged at Sid’s carelessness and declares him to be on the “Naughty List,” but when Ellie mentions Santa, Peaches overhears and is shocked to learn that Manny doesn’t believe in him. Meanwhile, an emotional Sid slides downhill as his tears freeze into solid ice.
