July 4, Americans celebrate Independence Day. On this day, many woke up confident in the future, headed in the morning from their homes for their usual business, and only at some point realized that the world had once and for all changed irrevocably. Huge alien spaceships hung over planet Earth. This caused a panic in many people, and for good reason. The intentions of alien guests are far from friendly. On the threshold of “our home” a real war of two worlds unfolded – their advanced technological and our usual. The President of the United States and several heroes become key figures in this confrontation. Will earthlings be able to defend their home in an unequal battle? What sacrifices do we have to make for salvation?

Emmerich performed exactly the task that he set himself. He wanted to shoot a blockbuster, and he shot it. There is nothing highly artistic here, but spectacles are what we always demand with bread. Therefore, “Independence Day” is perfect to relax in front of the screen or monitor, without straining once again the convolutions of the brain.
