Infinity Train (2019), an American animated TV show, was created by Owen Dennis who previously worked on Regular Show as a writer and storyboard artist. The immense train travels through a desolate landscape and its cars are filled with peculiar environments that defy logic. To move from one car to the next, passengers must overcome challenges that help them confront their mental anguish and emotional struggles. Each season of Infinity Train, referred to as a ‘Book’, features its own distinct storyline and characters, although some may reappear in other seasons. With praise for its intricate themes, character development, writing, unique animation style, and voice acting, all four seasons have been lauded by critics. In August 2020, Dennis expressed his desire for eight seasons but stated that most of the crew had been let go and there was uncertainty about renewing for a fifth season. He suggested HBO Max’s concern about the series’ darker tones and potential lack of appeal to younger viewers could be the reason behind this decision.

The series takes place on an infinite train journeying through a barren landscape. Each car of the train presents a surreal and fantastical world. Passengers are picked up along the way, all with unresolved emotional turmoil or trauma. As they make their way through the cars, they face challenges that allow them to confront and resolve their issues, symbolized by a glowing number on their hand that decreases with each success. When the number reaches zero, a portal opens for them to exit the train and return home. The debut season centers on Tulip Olsen, a young girl struggling with her parents’ recent divorce. She is accompanied by One-One, a perplexed robot, and Atticus, king of talking corgis. Throughout her journey, she uncovers the train’s secrets and ultimately faces off against Amelia – a passenger who failed to overcome her grief over her husband’s passing and attempted to take control of the train from One-One.
