Insidious (2010)

Insidious (2010), a supernatural horror film, was both directed and co-edited by James Wan with a script written by Leigh Whannell. The plot centers around the Lambert family, consisting of married couple Josh and Renai, their sons Dalton and Foster, and infant daughter Cali. After recently moving into a new home, strange occurrences begin to plague the family. Dalton mysteriously falls into a coma after venturing into the attic where he encounters an unknown entity. Despite extensive hospital visits, no progress is made in his recovery and the Lamberts bring him back home after three months. However, their home is soon plagued by terrifying paranormal events such as eerie noises and repeatedly triggered security alarms. Foster even claims to have seen his comatose brother walking around the house, while Renai discovers a bloody handprint on Dalton’s bed. As if that isn’t enough, Renai begins to see a demonic figure with long hair that attempts to harm her.

In light of these disturbing events, the decision is made to move out of the house – with Renai convinced that it is haunted. As the supernatural occurrences persist in their new residence, Renai is tormented by the ghost of a young child dressed in outdated clothing. Lorraine, Josh’s mother, shows up and reveals her own horrific dream involving a demon with a red face in Dalton’s room. To make matters worse, she witnesses the same demon lurking behind Josh and unseen spirits wreaking havoc in Dalton’s bedroom. In response to these disturbing events, Lorraine enlists Elise Rainier, a psychic medium, along with investigators Specs and Tucker. Upon investigating Dalton’s room, Elise has a vision of the red-faced demon and explains that Dalton possesses the ability to astral project his consciousness while sleeping, thereby causing him to mistakenly believe he is dreaming.
