Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) is an American action-thriller film directed by Edward Zwick, written by Zwick, Richard Wenk, and Marshall Herskovitz, and based on the 2013 novel Never Go Back by Lee Child. After helping the 110th US Army CID Military Police (MP) capture corrupt Oklahoma Sheriff Raymond Wood and his deputy, as well as dismantle a human trafficking ring, drifting ex-US Army Military Police investigator Jack Reacher returns to his former military base in Washington D.C. to meet Major Susan Turner. The two have been working together over the phone during Reacher’s travels. However, upon arrival, he learns that Turner has been arrested and charged with espionage. Despite evidence suggesting her involvement in the murders of two US Army MP soldiers in Afghanistan, Reacher believes she has been falsely accused. Seeking answers from Turner’s lawyer Colonel Moorcroft of J.A.G., Reacher is also informed of a paternity suit filed against him by an old acquaintance named Candice Dutton who claims he is the father of her teenage daughter Samantha.
When Reacher attempts to contact Dutton for more information, she turns him away. Moorcroft is fatally attacked by The Hunter, a former member of SOCOM who now works as a mercenary and sets up Reacher for the murder. As a result, Reacher is apprehended and taken to the same prison where Turner is being held. When two hired killers show up, Reacher takes them out and flees with Turner. They piece together the fact that Morgan is involved in the conspiracy and visit his place. However, The Hunter manages to eliminate Morgan and shifts the blame once again on Reacher. Together, Reacher and Turner uncover surveillance photos of Samantha, leading them to believe she may be in danger. Upon reaching her residence, they discover her adoptive parents have been murdered and she is hiding.
